Two days ago, on december 16th, I submitted my Triple Triad based game to Apple for App store approval. The name of the game is Elemental Dusk, since it stresses more the bounds with elementals. Now I'm waiting for Apple response, which should take about two weeks. In the meanwhile you can see some screenshots here.

Since the development of my next project has passed its first half (and it is near completion I think, but I cannot say this for sure), I think time has come to begin announcing what it is. It is an iPhone game. First of all let me explain why I consider this to be my real first project. There are three reasons: This is also my first iPhone app, so in this sense the game gets another "first", but this is a side effect of my choices. So let's talk of what kind of game it is. It is a card/strategy game base on the concept of Triple Triad, a little subgame present in Squaresoft Final Fantasy VIII. To explain it shortly, players put cards on a 3x3 grid, turning opponent's cards following certain rules. I always found it a funny little strategic game, and I think it suits the iPhone well. So this is why I chose to implement it. I altered the original concept a bit, but it follows it almost completely. Actually I just finished implementing the basic game structure and the artificial intelligence. In this first version of the game it will be possible to battle several different adversaries, with growing difficulty, collecting cards along the way. The game is still in a "prototypal" stage, so I still haven't screenshots to show. I will keep you informed as the development progresses.

I'm sorry to announce that, due to a OS bug, Startrail does not work on Snow Leopard. To be a little more specific, there is a certain case in which apps stop receiving mouse movements (if you want me to be more technical, please email me). Obviously this is the case for Startrail. I filed the bug to Apple, but since it is a very specific bug, I don't know when or wether it will be fixed. I'm very sorry, I tried some workaround but none of them seems to work. So please be advised that if you intend to upgrade to Snow Leopard, Startrail will not work anymore. If you bought a license for Startrail after Snow Leopard release, please email me for a refund.

It seems that Startrail 2.1 does not work on Snow Leopard. I did not expect this, since Snow Leopard is Leopard. APIs and underliyng technologies should not have changed. I'm working on an update to fix this and I'm sorry to make you wait. Please be patient. Thank you.

Nearly a month has passed since I put this new website version online and released my Zone Diet management application, but things are not going as I imagined. When you start an online business like this one you learn very soon that getting exposure in internet is not the easy thing some people let pass on you. I can't say that things are dim, though. I strongly believe I have a great product, which surely needs some polish, but that gives a good overall experience. If I look at website's statistics I can clearly see that it is getting very low visits. So it is not a product problem (even if Startrail is getting some preatty good success), but lack of exposure. Moreover visits must be targeted, because Startrail may be doing a good job attracting people, but those people are not necessarily interested in Zone Diet. Dreams and values are good, and paired with good products and good customer support make a company a great company. I'm still convinced of this. But they are not enough to keep you in business, I'm learning this too. I know that it is still too early to say something, but I think it's better to aknowledge where lacks are early and address them quickly. Things are not as bright as someone out there makes you believe, but this is part of the game, I know it. I still have some bullets to shoot before moving on something else (I will never give up!), so I will put apart the new project I was developing and I will direct all my efforts toward fixing some issues and developing a more effective marketing strategy. Wish me some luck!
